What is Modern?
“It’s an attitude; a lifestyle; a style of design; a reflection of our changing times. Oscar Wilde once said, “In matters of importance, style is everything.” The city of Austin has always been a place with it’s own sense of style, and I am pleased to see that style increasingly incorporating modern designs. I love living in Austin and I am proud to be a part of the forward movement that is taking on an aggressive approach to new, modern architecture. To me, Modernism is a style that remains connected to the past while embracing the future. In today’s world, it is important to consider our changing needs and incorporate them into the designs of our homes. Modern Architecture is able to accommodate efforts to be more ecologically and economically friendly. A modern home can inspire us as well as put a roof over our head.
I believe the Modern Home Tour is a fun part of an important effort to bring attention to the modern and sustainable lifestyle. Its purpose is simple – to highlight and promote the collaborative exchange between Real Estate Professionals, Architects and Developers and to invite Austinites to join the Modern Movement.
In the 2012 Austin Modern Home Tour you will see homes designed by some very talented Austin modern architects and fantastic modern homes currently on the market. Acclaimed Architectural Critic John Gallagher said it best, “The sense of being in architectural space – what it feels like, how it hits you in the eye and swirls around in your gut, and, if you are very lucky, sends shivers up your spine – cannot be understood except by being there.” Join us on February 4th to be wowed and inspired.”

what is the cost of a ticket for a 10 year old?

So exactly how does the tour work? Is it self guided, do we all meet a one particular house then travel house to house.
The Modern Home Tour is self-guided – you’re welcome to spend as much or little time as you want at any of the homes on the Tour! In the morning you will need to stop by one of the following Will Call Locations to pick up your Tour wristbands:

2210 East Side Dr.

With your wristband in hand, feel free to visit the homes in any order you want!
I am interested in viewing some of the houses on the tour. However I would not be able to go to the after party. Can I get a reduced price for just the home viewing?

Hi Elaine, the After Party is a bonus event for those who attend the Tour. Therefore the $20 Advance Tickets and $25 Day-of-Tour ticket prices are final. The Advance Tickets will be available until 8:00pm tonight!
