"Wikipedia represents Modernism as “Cultural Movement” – a trend of thought that affirms the power of human beings to create, improve and reshape their environments with the aid of knowledge, technology and practical experimentation. It reexamines every aspect of existence with the goal of finding that which “holds back” progress and replacing it with new, progressive and therefore better To me, “Austin” represents the new modernism. Modernism is an attitude. It’s an attitude of being connected to a past that one is proud of while bringing in the fresh and new of the present day. I see Modern as sophisticated change – invention of new perspectives based on the best ideas of the past – positive evolution. I love living in Austin because Austin embraces this attitude and is a city of forward thinkers, designers, and innovators. Yet, in my 10+ years as a Real Estate Professional and Business Owner, I have seen this modernism lag behind in our architecture. This is finally beginning to shift, and I’m proud to be a part of the forward movement. In the modern world, each home has its own progressive personality and style. In the modern world we care about sustainability and design it as part of the lifestyle beyond just the bricks and mortar. Achievable even without having to spend the million in order to produce hip individuality. For instance, take a look at Chris Krager’s vision of modern architecture, sustainability and style at an affordable price! Why do I think it is important to continue The Modern Home Tour in Austin? For the same reason I started it. To bring attention to the new modernism of Austin -- Modern Homes, Modern Architecture and Modern Lives. Please join us on January 30th to view some of Austin’s best Modern Homes." ~ Krisstina Wise, Principal, The GoodLife Team Our mission is simple.
